Beaton's Croft House is an 'A'-listed traditional thatched house in the Crofting Township of Bornesketaig. It has superb views across the Minch to the Isle of Harris, Lewis and North Uist. Uig is approximately 5 miles away and Portree is 21 miles. The cottage has been reconstructed internally to provide simple accommodation, maintaining the original atmosphere of life in a thatched cottage, but with modern amenities. One twin bedroom, sitting room with original fire opening for burning peat or coal, a small kitchen and shower room with WC.

The cottage has an enclosed garden, just beyond which runs the Canal and there are excellent views of the lock, the canal, the yachts and the ducks from the front windows. The cottage enjoys a central location in the village and the upper floor gives fine views of the Cromarty Firth. There is an attractive enclosed garden to the front and side of the property, with a picnic table and bench. Parking is available at the eastern gable end of the cottage. This is not a reserved space but is usually available. Sitting room with open fire, small kitchen, twin bedroom and bathroom with shower over the bath on the ground floor. Stairs from the hall lead to the upper floor and another small twin bedroom suitable for children with combed ceilings. Lydia Cottage is being refurbished during January/February 2008.
