The Royal Artillery cottage was endowed by the Royal Artillery after the Second World War for the use of disabled ex-servicemen, and then for a while was used only by ex-servicemen from the Erskine Memorial Hospital. Originally part of the Coach House and Stables complex, the cottage provided living quarters for the coachmen, grooms and stable-boys and for the footmen and other male domestic servants in the Castle.
This charming sandstone cottage has been refurbished and now provides excellent facilities for disabled guests. Situated within the cobbled Clock Tower Courtyard next to the castle, its position on the cliff edge gives fine sea views from each of the comfortably furnished rooms. No nursing or medical backup is provided. Car parking is available opposite the cottage. We also welcome bookings from able-bodied parties.
Two twin bedrooms, sitting room, kitchen, bathroom with separate bath and wheelchair-accessible shower with seat.
For larger family/group bookings, accommodation is also available at North and South Segganwell Cottages and the Brewhouse Flat.
