The castle will be closed throughout 2008 (and well into 2009) for major conservation work. The work will include stripping the cement based coating, or harl, from the external walls (this first part of the work is scheduled to be finished long before the start of the 2008 holiday season) and reharling in a more appropriate lime based coating and also doing some repairs to the slate roof slopes. The castle will be shrouded in scaffolding and there may be times when there is some noise during the day. It is for this reason that the prices for these two cottages will be reduced by £100 per week for 2008.
Wild honeysuckle flourishes in the delightful garden of this secluded two-storey stone cottage, which stands behind Steading Cottage and about 100 yards from the castle itself. Parking is available at the side of the garden.
Two twin bedrooms on the first floor and a sitting room with open fire, dining room, kitchen and bathroom with bath and shower over bath on the ground floor.
